Ill snap some this afternoon, Ive got it more leveled out and closer to where everything should be now, but still not anywhere near final. More pics in my build thread, but nothing close up. Ill try to get a couple of better pics up soon looking at the bottom side better, but this could give you an idea. I currently have stock dogbones, but dont mind getting adjustable if it means better shock placement or knuckle orientation.Īnd does the shock need to be perfectly perpendicular to the swingarm? Ive got a lot of room in there, and if it can lean a little, it will make things easier. It also affect where the shock sits in the swingarm.I am sure I could weld the shit on there and things would work just fine, but I want to try and get things at least close to how they should be for good highway manners. I guess what it boils down to is I am trying to find out how the knuckle itself should be oriented for proper geometry and where the tabs need to be, either the back of bottom the tube, or the bottom. If I need to I can get shorter dogbones to get everythign aligned. So what I am wanting to learn is more about the geometry between the shock, knuckle, and dogbones. But moving the shock up or down affect the angle of the knuckle and where it would mount on the frame while trying to keep the ride height the same. The location of the upper eye of the shock greatly affects the feasibility of making a mount within this frame that isnt huge or awkward. I might have to make a flat mount and use a clevis on top of the shock eye. Today I had some tabs come in from A&A and they might work, but might not. I have other shocks that will fit the mount, but they would need to be resprung, whereas the busa shock should be suited to the weight. I got some preformed shock tabs through Scrapyard, but unfortunately the shock is too large.

The upper shock mount will require a new 1" tube welded between the sides and a upper shock mount welded on. I need to learn more about the geometry of the rear suspension and how it affects things.

Im using a Hayabusa shock and the stock FJR knuckle, and for now, dogbones. For my buildoff bike Juggy, I am doing a monoshock conversion and swingarm swap to a 05 FJR1300 swingarm.
